We are two sisters who are on a culinary journey that began some twenty years ago in our parent's kitchen. We are passionate about food and like to experience different cuisines. This blog is a medium for us to note down, share and enjoy our food experience. More importantly, it is a way of bonding over something we are both passionate about. Hope you enjoy this journey as much as we do.

Chickpea Dry Dish
This is a dish that is eaten on days of fast in Southern India. Whenever our grandmother kept her fast she had this dish along with yogurt as part of her lunch. We don't know the significance of why this dish is used for that purpose, anyway it tasted great to us and we never complained eating it as long as we were not asked to fast ourselves.
Prepartion time: 2 mins
Cooking time: 6 mins
1 can chick peas, drain water and rinse with cold water 2-3 times
2 sprigs curry leaves
2 dry red chillies
1/2 tsp mustard
1 tbsp coconut gratings
1 tbsp jaggery(unrefined sugar) or 1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp oil
salt
Heat oil in a pan. Season it with mustard, curry leaves and chillies. When the mustard starts to pop add the chickpeas that are drained well. Add the sugar or jaggery and coconut gratings. Mix well. Add salt. Allow to simmer for 6-7 mins.
Enjoy!
